Working offline

What still works when your phone has no connection.

What it is

The mobile app caches enough of the shell to open when you are offline, and it can queue report submissions until you are back online.

What you can do

  • Open the app offline (you may see an offline screen for some routes)
  • Submit a report into the outbox; it syncs when connectivity returns
  • See queue alerts when something is waiting to send

Who can do it

Anyone using the installed mobile app. Report queueing is the main offline write path.

Limits and things to know

  • Voting, card moves, uploads, and most edits still need a network.
  • Photos and files waiting in the outbox are capped at 20 MB in total across all queued reports.
  • Do not assume a queued report has reached council until sync succeeds.
  • Desktop browser tabs are not the same as the offline-capable PWA shell.
