Voting
How eligible council members approve, reject, or abstain on a card.
What it is
When a vote is open, eligible members can approve, reject, or abstain from the card detail — on desktop or in the mobile app.
What you can do
- Open the card from Maintenance, Timeline, or a notification
- Cast approve, reject, or abstain
- See cards that need your vote highlighted (on mobile, a Needs your vote section at the top of Maintenance)
- On mobile, vote from the bar at the bottom of the card: Reject, Approve, or … to abstain. Each opens a short sheet where you can add a note; approving asks which vendor when the card has quotes from two or more
Who can do it
Eligible council voters. Property managers can vote only when they have delegated admin. Residents never vote on cards.
Limits and things to know
- Only approvals count toward the threshold. Reject and abstain record that you took part, but they do not close the vote.
- You generally see your own vote; full tallies are limited to admins (president, VP, delegated PM), property managers, and the requester.
- Push voting works best when the mobile app is installed and notifications are enabled.
- Once enough approvals are in, the card moves from Planning to In progress on its own — you do not manually “close” the vote in most cases.
- If a member who voted is removed from the strata, their vote stays on the record under their name. On a vote already decided, it still counts. On a vote still open, it shows Not counted and no longer counts toward the approvals needed: that number doesn't change, so the rest of council has to reach it. Someone removed and invited back can vote on it again.
- If your approval was the last one needed and Pleno answers that something changed at the same moment, your vote is saved. Vote again to pass it, or leave it: Pleno's daily check passes any vote that has enough approvals but is still open, with the same log entry and email.
- When a card has quotes from two or more vendors, approving it means choosing one. Your vote keeps the vendor and their total as they were when you voted: a quote added, edited, replaced or deleted later doesn't change what the vote shows. While a vote on the card is open, its quotes can't be added, edited or deleted, nor linked to or unlinked from a contractor on the contractor directory, which would change which vendor a quote counts under. For the same reason, a contractor with a quote on the card can't be deleted from the directory until the vote ends; marking them inactive still works. A quote forwarded by email during the vote waits in Vendor quotes, and is added when the vote ends.
