Requesting a vote

What it is

Requesting approval opens a formal vote on a Planning card, or on a project in any state short of Done, and notifies the roles configured for card-approval events.

What you can do

1. Open the card on the maintenance board (or in the mobile card detail).
2. Start an approval request.
3. Eligible voters receive email and, when enabled, push notifications. The email opens the vote itself; if the card is in another of the reader's buildings, the link asks them to switch to it first.
4. Cancel the request if the vote should stop before it concludes.

Admins (president, VP, delegated PM).

Limits and things to know

• Approval is meant for Planning cards that need a council decision before work continues.
• Configure who receives approval emails and push under Settings → Notifications.
• A card has one open vote at a time. Requesting again while a vote is open (for example from a tab opened before someone else requested it) is refused and the open vote is shown; it is never replaced, so votes already cast are kept. To start over, cancel the open vote first.
• Cancelling does not delete the card — it only ends the open vote.
• The cost is locked during the vote. A card vote is for the card's quoted cost when you request it, the amount in the vote email, and that is what a passed vote approves. While the vote is open the quoted cost can't be changed (the field says so); cancel the vote to change it, then request a new one. Other details, and the actual cost, can still be edited, and a quote forwarded by email is added to the card without filling in its cost. A card with no quoted cost can be put to a vote, but the vote approves no amount.
• While a project vote is open, an item it covers can't be deleted or taken out of the project. Cancel the vote first.
