How citations work
Why Ask AI shows sources and how to use them.
What it is
Answers can include citations back to the records Pleno used — documents, contracts, reports, maintenance items, or global legal references — so you can verify the claim. Citations are a pointer to check, not proof that the answer is right.
What you can do
- Open cited sources from the answer
- Cross-check the underlying PDF or card before acting
- Upload missing documents when citations show gaps
Who can do it
Anyone who can use Ask AI.
Limits and things to know
- If a document is not indexed yet, it may not appear in citations.
- An answer can be based on a real source and still show no citation for it. Pleno drops a citation when it cannot tell exactly which record was meant — for example when two files share a name — rather than link you to the wrong document. That is deliberate, so treat a missing citation as “unconfirmed”, not as “made up”.
- Because of that, open the underlying PDF or card before acting on anything that matters.
- Free has no AI indexing; Standard indexes for Ask AI readiness, but the chat itself is Pro.
