Turning a report into a maintenance card
Promote a report into new tracked work or attach it to an existing card.
What it is
When a report needs formal tracking on the maintenance board, council can promote it to a new card or add it to an existing card.
What you can do
From report detail:
- Create a new maintenance card from the report
- Link the report to a card that already exists
- Keep using notes and documents on both sides as work continues
After a report becomes a new card, Pleno asks once: Request quotes from contractors now? Request quotes opens the new card with its Request quote form ready; Not now loses nothing, as Request quote stays in the card's Contractors list. It's offered to the people who run contractor outreach (property manager, president, vice-president), and only after promoting a report: cards from email, the Gmail add-on, the depreciation report and projects don't ask. Reporter milestone emails (received / planning / done) can notify the resident when those events are enabled for the strata. In Pleno the resident sees their report marked Linked to maintenance; they can't open the card or its files.
Who can do it
Council members with permission to create or link maintenance work.
Limits and things to know
- Promotion works on every plan. There is no open-card limit.
- Linking does not remove the original report — the report remains in the reports list.
- Not every report should become a card; many are informational and only need review.
